I hope everyone is enjoying their day! Keenan and I enjoyed a wonderful morning at our local park, a nice change of scenery since our house is stacked with boxes!
Well, let’s get right to the good stuff today and talk about Handful! I heard about the company and their infamous sports bras a while ago, so I contacted them to see if they would be willing to let me try one and write a review. They generously sent me one right away. I was so excited when it arrived in the mail, I was like a kid in a candy store!
To learn a little bit more about Handful, check out their new video that they recently completed!
As you can see from the video, Handful’s motto is about being a strong, confident, determined, active, compassionate and adventurous woman. They are about living life to its fullest and giving it your all. The company was founded by Jennifer Ferguson, in Portland, Oregon, a fitness enthusiast and group exercise instructor teaching a variety of classes and competing in several endurance events. After not being happy with traditional sports bras on the market, she developed a sports bra that does everything. It keeps the girls in place, flatters them (not flattens) and can be worn everyday, from workout to weekend. Also, Handful is an approved mastectomy bra, supporting breast cancer survivors during treatment.
After learning about their company and their founder, I couldn’t wait to wear their sports bra for a WOD. First of all, just taking it out of the package, you could tell the sports bra was made with high quality materials. It feel good next to your skin. The bra contains removable pads and since I wanted to have a little shape and lift, I kept them in (although I was curious how the pads would wash up in the washing machine, as other sports bra pads never seem to wash well). Before I put the bra on, I adjusted the crisscross straps to fit, and I immediately fell in love with it once I had it on. It was so comfortable, yet felt so secure. Nothing was going to move through a grueling CrossFit WOD and just as I thought, everything stayed in place as it was supposed to be, while still feeling comfortable!
When I got home and took a shower, I threw the sports bra (with the pads in it) into the wash (in the mesh bag that it comes with) and it washed very well. The pads stayed in tack, not moving an inch, nor getting tangled within the bra (a major plus in my book!). The next time I wore the sports bra was during the day, running errands and playing with Keenan. It still felt good and provided shape and lift, just as it did while I was wearing it for my workout.
I know this is just a sports bra, but I have to say that I absolutely love it! I am always on the look out for a good sports bra without spending an arm and a leg, and Handful finally created it! I highly recommend visiting their site and checking out their sports bras for yourself! They even make them in some fun colors, as well as tank tops with the same bra built in, which I can’t wait to try next!
Last, but not least, another reason why I love Handful is they are in the process of moving all of their manufacturing to the U.S., but they are looking for help. They need to raise $50,000 in order to help with the new manufacturing, packaging, and branding. You can help by checking out their Crowd Supply Campaign here!
Handful was so generous that they offered to send one lucky reader a sports bra of their own!!

Handful… haha that’s a cute name. I love the back! And tank top with a sports bra built in? Duuuuuude….
I’ll wear it when I go to work by bike
These look awesome!! I would love to try one out- thanks for scouting them out 🙂
I’m always on the lookout for a great new sports bra and this one looks great!
Those look awesome! I would wear it all the time! I work out in the mornings then end up running errands. I’m always looking for something that is thick and comfortable enough to go from workout to errands to play time 🙂
I’ve been wanting to try this bra! I heard about them while I was at the Blend Retreat last month. I would definitely wear mine to the gym or just out and about under a tank top.
That looks great on you!
I would totally wear this everyday, especially once I move to Saipan, where I plan to sweat a lot and where washability is SUPER important. TMI, sorry…:P
I’d wear it during any of my workouts, or even under a t-shirt! It sounds too good to be true!
I would wear it every day, sounds like it’s great for working out and just doing normal everyday things.
Sounds awesome. Do you know if they work for us “gifted” or as I would like to say “cursed” girls with a small rib cage but larger cup? Right now I typically have to order bra sized sports bras because regular ones don’t work properly. The bra sized ones are more expensive and tend to not be that flattering most of the time. I’ve only found one brand that I really like and it’s limited on styles (can’t do racerback). I’d like to try these out but not sure if they will work for me.
Tina, to be honest, I don’t know. I know you contacted the company, but I will also ask them.
I would wear it everywhere! I feel most comfy in sports bras and this one would be great because of the lift and ‘no headlights’. Plus the ease of washing is perfect~ no more putting the pads back in.
I would like to know the answer to Tina C’s questions also. Finding the right sports bra is one of the things that is really holding me back from vigorous activity. It is such a pain to have to worry about being comfortable instead of just being focused on the activity. I am a handful, alright. LOL!
I’ve contacted the company to find out since Melissa may not know. I’ll update the comments when they get back to me so that everyone can know.
Well, I got a somewhat vague comment to my question from the company. Their reply was
“Hi Tina,
Thank you for your interest in Handful and inquiring if Handful Bras might be a good fit for you.
The Handful Bra was originally designed for the smaller busted athlete; however, women of all shapes and sizes have gravitated toward it for the feel, function, and fashion. We do guarantee support for high impact of B cup and below and low to moderate support for C+ cup. We have a lot of customers that prefer the Handful Bra for every day wear instead of just for the short amount of time spent working out. We are working very hard to soon be produced in the USA which will allow us to better conduct R&D necessary to produce additional models accommodating various sizes of the active women of today.
It is always best to try on the Handful Bra if possible so please check to see if we are sold in your area (or let me us know where you are located, and we will let you know possible options). We have seen women with a smaller rib cage like yours wear Handful for everyday wear.
We hope this information is helpful.”
To me this sounds like they don’t really know if it will fit anyone that’s bigger than a C cup. And if it does then most likely it will only be a low support bra. Guess I will be sticking with my current stuff. I was hoping to try something new.
You bring up a good point, as I didn’t really think about their sizing and how it would work for everyone. Hopefully with their shift to all U.S. manufacturing they will be able to offer more sizing options. It is hard when their bras are not sold everywhere. However, I did look at their site and it looks like Fleet Feet on J Street in downtown Sacramento carries them. You could try one there to see how it works. I know this doesn’t help those not in the Sacramento area, but it might be worth looking on their site to see if there are stores in other areas that carry them.
I will go try one on and see. I’m really curious. They look like they may have good coverage.
Let me know if they work!
FYI I got around to going into the boutique that sells these here in Sacramento. I tried on one that would fit my rib cage and I was surprised at how well the cup actually covered. It still was slightly too small for my comfort however I would feel comfortable saying that someone with a D or even possibly a DD could get decent coverage with this bra. However in no way would it be supportive enough to be a sports bra.
Thanks for the info, Tina. This definitely helps! I will make sure to pass this on to Handful, so they can keep this in mind as they expand their sizing options.
I would use it during my workouts
Loving that visor. I’d love that!
I also love what these women behind Handful stand for- such a wonderful company!
Would wear it for TAbata workouts.
I would wear underneath my gym shirts when I go to the gym!
If I won I’d wear it when I go running!
Around the house if I kept it but most likely would give to my dd who loves sports bras
I would run in it, just like the other 5 handfuls I have 🙂
I’d wear it to the gym to lift 🙂
i would wear under my scrubs at work and when i run too.
when working out.
I would wear it as I walked on the beach.
I would wear that thing everywhere! I’ve wanted one for a long time. If I don’t win, I’m going to order one. Thanks for the chance to win!
I would wear it under a tank top or during a work out!
I’d wear my Handful to bootcamp… and running… and yoga… and hiking… and Body Pump… .
Handful is the only bra I ever wear anymore… sports, fitness and every day wear. Love my Handfuls!
Nice review!
