Thanksgiving is in two days and I’m moving into my third trimester…crazy! Now that the holidays are here, this pregnancy is going by even faster. I can’t believe I only have three months left (actually, a little less than that)!
I’m still in slight panic mode about getting everything done (moving into our office and getting the baby’s room ready) among preparing for the holidays (especially since we are hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve), but as my husband says, one step at a time. In the end, I know it will all get done…somehow, but it’s hard to see that when there is just so much to do! Either way, I’m excited for the holidays and anxious to see if Keenan will have a little sister or a little brother!
Cravings: Still savory, salty foods like bacon, roasted potatoes, oven-baked sweet potato fries, eggs over easy and salami. I’ve also been craving air-popped popcorn with herbs and brewers yeast! I still get an occasional craving for sweet/savory desserts like peanut butter chocolate brownies or pumpkin cheesecake (which I just made for Thanksgiving!). I’m still eating plenty of veggies and forcing myself to eat enough fruit (since it hasn’t seemed appealing these days).
Eating: Good! My appetite has seemed to pick up again..
Emotions: Happy, though still a little stressed.
Skin: Continuing to stay mostly clear with the occasional blemish.
Weight gain: I’ve gained a total of 23 pounds so far, which is still within the healthy range, but I’m not sure what to think since I only gained a total of 27 pounds with Keenan. My midwife estimates I’ll gain about 35 pounds, yikes!
Workouts: I’m still doing CrossFit four days a week in our newly finished garage gym! I tried pull ups last week for the first time since June and I realized how much harder it is with a 23 pound weight vest, ha! I’m still running, rowing, lifting, squatting and I feel great!
Sleep: Dreams are still crazy and all over the place, but I’m continuing to sleep well (crossing my fingers it continues!).
Questions:
How are you staying stress-free this holiday season?
For all of you veteran mommies, how much weight did you gain with your pregnancies? Were you concerned?
You look great Melissa! Before we know it, your little bundle of joy will be here. Enjoy the holidays with your beautiful family. Your husband is right…….one step at a time and you will get it all done.
Thanks! I know, the next three months are going to fly by! Yes, one step at a time… 🙂
35 is totally normal! I gained 36 pounds with Ayden and remember feeling so stressed about it. Now I look back and think how silly that was since I ate healthy and stayed active which is just what you’re doing. I often hear women tend to gain a little more on their second pregnancy too 🙂
Thanks, Giselle! It is good to know that you gained 36 pounds with Ayden. It’s hard to not stress about the number on the scale, especially when I have never been this heavy, but I know it’s for the best. I’m eating healthy and staying active, so the weight is what my body needs (even though it’s hard to mentally get that through my head!).
You look beautiful! I’m actually terrified of having a fruit and veggie aversion during pregnancy, but we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it!
Thank you! Yes, it’s so weird to get an aversion to fruit when I loved it pre-pregnancy! Strange how our bodies work with so many hormones running through it!
