I’m sorry I haven’t been around the past few days, but things have been a tad chaotic the past few days!
Our move went well, except for the fact that we had to do it in two days, instead of one, like we had originally planned. Silly us, we only reserved one 24 ft. truck with the movers, thinking we could fit everything in our house (and garage) in it, but that certainly didn’t happen! Fortunately, the movers were able to come back on Tuesday to move the rest of our stuff, which they were able to do in less than an hour, thank goodness!
But, the best part is yet to come…we can’t actually live in our house until next Monday! We learned this the day before we moved. The bathrooms are still not completed, so we don’t have any working plumbing in the house and our appliances don’t arrive until tomorrow afternoon. So, thankfully, my parents have been so kind in allowing us stay with them this week. It has been nice to stay with parents, especially for Keenan being able to spend time with them, play with the dogs and swim, but it is a little weird to not be able to unpack and properly settle into our new house. Usually, I would be stressed about this whole situation, but for some reason, I’m UNUSUALLY calm and relaxed about the whole thing…WEIRD and kind of scary! I guess the little break from reality is nice, but I’m itching to get in and start unpacking!
Anyhow, at least the move is done, our old house is cleaned out and we handed the keys to our renters tonight. A couple things to cross off our list, among the hundreds of things we have left to do!
Here is a little snapshot of our lovely boxes, or rather “life” in boxes and this is just half of them!
That’s it for now. I’ll try to write another post when I can. Have great weekend!
Questions:
How many times have you moved in your lifetime?
Have you ever been unusually calm and relaxed in a normally stressful situation?
Oh goodness, just looking at all those boxes stresses me out a little bit! Have fun unpacking!!
I know, doesn’t it? Every time I walk in the house, I hate looking at it! I’m hoping to get some of it unpacked this weekend!
Ahhhhh bless your heart for surviving this leg of the move. It’s SO stressful when you think everything is going smoothly and then you find out – “Hey, you can’t move in.” Good for you on taking it in stride, though! I’m such a nutcase, I would have been going bananas and making my poor husband crazy 😛
I’m trying (trying is the key word!) not to get too stressed or make my husband crazy, but it is SO hard! I’m hoping we can go over there and get some unpacking done this weekend. But, we still don’t have working bathrooms, so it’s hard to stay too long without any toilets in the house! 🙂
Sounds like you are handling all this chaos beautifully. I’m not sure I’d be the same way! I tend to get stressed when things don’t go according to the plan or we quire major changes in my usual routine.
I’m trying to do my best and just take each day at a time, but it is challenging! I’m having withdrawals from not being able to workout, in addition to not being able to unpack like I want to do, but soon enough, we will have our normal routine back (at least I hope!).
I have always found moving out to be stressful. I usually freak out about getting everything moved and then I get sappy thinking about all of the wonderful memories we made in the house. I do love moving in though. It’s always a fresh start at being organized. Maybe it’s time for me to move again………my house is getting kind of cluttered. LOL!
I think we were so rushed with this move that it still hasn’t really sunk in that we are moved! I usually get sappy thinking about all of the memories, too, but it hasn’t hit me yet. Moving is a good excuse to get organized and purge things you no longer use or want, but I’m sure not a fan of doing it often! 🙂
Eek! Our move is a week from Monday… I hope I’m ready for this, it’s always a huge job! Hope you get settled in quickly!!
Thanks! Good luck on your move! It is definitely stressful, but you will get through it!
I’m glad to hear it went well! But that is a huge bummer about not being able to move in yet. Good thing you had your parents to help out. 🙂
I’ve moved 7 times in my life – not including college! In college I moved 5 times….!
Oh my! Moving 7 times! I can’t even imagine! I definitely have no room to complain!
