Keenan loves to paint, especially finger painting and getting it all over himself like the boy in the book, I Ain’t Gonna Paint No More! As we were reading last month’s Highlights magazine, they featured a fun watercolor activity using tape that I completely forgot about. Instead of just painting as we usually do, I thought we would try it, since Keenan loves to put tape on everything these days!
Here’s the activity:
First, take some masking tape, cut it into strips and have your child place the tape anywhere on a piece of thick white paper.
Next, get your water color paints ready, have your child start painting away, making sure to cover all of the tape and filling in all of the white on the paper. Keenan still has a hard time with watercolors. He loves to pour the cup of water into all of the colors instead of dipping his brush into the water and then the paint. It’s too funny!
After your child is done painting, let it dry for a few hours.
Once the paint is dry, peel off the tape to reveal your child’s beautiful picture!
Don’t forget to enter the Energybits giveaway! You have until tomorrow at midnight PST to enter!
Questions:
When you were a kid, do you remember doing this watercolor activity?
If you have kids, what kinds of painting or craft ideas do you like to do with them?
Oh I love this craft. We are going to do this on our deck in the next day or two. Thank you!!
Keenan loved it and he was entertained for a long time, which is a bonus in my book! We will definitely be doing it again!
What a cool idea…this would be a great “cottage” craft
It was a lot of fun, definitely something we will be doing again!
