With the hectic schedule of life and constant connection to electronics, we often forget to slow down, live in the present and truly enjoy each moment. Our minds are constantly thinking about what we have to do next or cross off on our never-ending to-do list. If we continually focus on what we have to do next, we lose the essence of what life is about. We forget to have fun or to enjoy the little things that matter the most, especially when you have kids.
Since having children, Keenan and Mirella have taught me what is really important in life…living in the moment and cherishing each and every giggle, laugh, cuddle, smile, playtime and even the not-so good times (sleepless nights and/or tantrums). After Mirella was born, it has been so much fun watching Keenan adore her. He loves to read to her, play with her under her play gym and make her smile or laugh. Mirella loves her brother and has the biggest grin every time she seems him. It melts my heart to see them having so much fun together, and I hope that this budding relationship only gets stronger as they get older. I was very fortunate to have close relationships with my brothers and I want Mirella and Keenan to have the same kind of bond.
Being that I’m a firm believer in living in the moment, living life to the fullest and cherishing the little things, I was excited to be selected for Stanford’s Children’s Health campaign: Your Kid is Extraordinary. What makes your kid extraordinary isn’t just the epic stuff. It’s the little things. The small moments that maybe only you see — and quietly celebrate every day. These moments are priceless and instead of being in a hurry as we often are, celebrate them, tell your children how special they are and treasure the memories for years to come. Your kid is extraordinary. Show them how much you enjoy every moment together by creating a special video of your own!

Don’t get me wrong, there are definitely days that are harder than others where life gets in the way and I’m racing around to get things done, but then I’m reminded how precious life really is when Keenan gives me a hug or tells me that he loves me, or when Mirella giggles when I kiss her cheek. They grow up way too fast and I don’t want to look back and wish I spent more time with Keenan and Mirella and less time worrying about crossing things off my to-do list.
