I always enjoy visiting San Francisco; there are so many things to do, wonderful shows, GREAT shopping and lots of good food! We are lucky to live less than two hours from the city so we can visit often, but it is always nice to come home. The hustle and bustle of the city is good for a weekend, but I have to admit, it’s nice to come home to the piece and quiet of the country!
For today’s Marvelous In My Monday, I’m sharing some of the marvelous things we did in San Francisco this past weekend from my iphone…
The reason we went to San Francisco was to see “I Love Lucy” Live on Stage. I’ve always been a huge fan of Lucille Ball, so my mom surprised me with tickets for my birthday and my husband babysat the kids. It was such a great show! The actress who played Lucy was spot on with all of her facial expressions and body language!
Before the show on Saturday morning, we braved the rain and walked to our favorite place, the Ferry Building. They have a wonderful farmer’s market and tons of delicious goodies and little shops inside. Prior to being married when my husband lived in the city, we would always go the Ferry Building and buy cheese from Cowgirl Creamery, bread from Acme Bread Company and sausage from Buccalone Salumeria and have a picnic on the deck that overlooks the bay. Of course, we would end it on a sweet note with a cappuccino from Blue Bottle and a pastry or cookie from one of the many eateries. It was the perfect little date that quickly became a tradition that we haven’t done in years, so it was fun to enjoy it with our kids this time!
But, this time they had a couple new places that we hadn’t tried before, Biscuit Bender and Humphry Slocombe, a specialty ice cream shop. We got a porcini mushroom and cheese biscuit and a pumpkin chocolate chip. We ate them too quickly for a picture! They were both delicious! At Humprhry Slocombe’s, we had to try their bourbon corn flake ice cream! It was different but SO good!
Last, but not least, we stopped by my good family friend’s booth outside at the farmer’s market, Three Babes Bakeshop, and enjoyed a slice of their infamous salty honey walnut pie! Again, I completely forgot to take a picture.
Aside form enjoying some wonderful eats, we did a little bit of shopping at my favorite store, Nordstrom, and just enjoyed the city before heading home.
Questions:
What was marvelous about your weekend?
Have you ever been to San Francisco?
I’ve only been to San Francisco once (almost 20 years ago) – loved it and would definitely like to go back again!!!
It’s such a fun city with so much to do and EAT, but I’m glad I live far enough a way to not tempt me to go more often! 🙂
Yum! I haven’t been to the Ferry Building in years and have been itching to go. We were going to go tomorrow but have so much to do before Thanksgiving it’s been put on hold. We’ll have to try out those places when we do go though!
The Ferry Building is so much fun! There is so much good food and I love Sur La Table!
I’ve never been to San Francisco but, wow, looks like they have all kinds of sights to see! We will be heading to the northern border of CA for Christmas, but the small town we are visiting isn’t too eventful 🙂 I am so excited to visit my in-laws though we may have to hit a bigger city to find a good cappuccino!
Salty honey walnut pie sounds like it would be a hit for a Thanksgiving dessert 🙂 Hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Where do your in-laws live? Someday you will have to visit San Francisco!
