I wish I was in more of a mood to post something marvelous about our weekend, but I’m not. Somehow I strained my lower back and lower abs while working out the end of last week. You would think I was lifting some crazy weight, but, no, I was just doing grasshoppers. It was my second wod of the day, working out with my client. It was a high volume workout (lots of reps) and I think I pushed myself too hard, or at least my abs and my back. Since my diastasis, my abs are weaker, thus making my core not as strong as it was prior to being pregnant (and more prone to injury).

Doing 150 grasshoppers was probably too much for my abs, thus putting too much strain on them, causing my lower back to compensate. Even though I do the tupler technique exercises daily to strengthen my transverse abs and my core, it must not be enough or I still need more time for my abs to truly get back to normal.

I wish I could post something more uplifting, but I’m just in a funk due to my back. It’s so hard to not do anything! I love to workout, so not doing anything is frustrating. Also, carrying Mirella and bending over to get her out of her crib doesn’t help either! Maybe the strain (at least that is what I hope it is) was a sign that I need to slow down. Either way, I’m hoping an adjustment and massage later today will help things feel better.

To help see the silver lining, I thought this was perfect, something I need to print out!gandhi quote

Question:

Have you ever had an injury where you needed to slow down and take it easy for a while? If so, how did you cope?
