I wish I could say it’s a happy Monday over here, but as of Saturday night, I came down with Keenan’s horrible cold that he had last week (and is still recovering from, poor guy!). I kept telling myself I wouldn’t get sick, especially since we had our Anniversary getaway weekend planned for awhile, but no matter what I did to keep myself healthy, I still got it. It goes to show that no matter how healthy you eat or how active you are, you can still get sick! My body had been on-the-go (and not getting as much sleep as it needs with Mirella waking up once or twice every night) for so long that I think it finally crashed. Luckily, I don’t have a fever like Keenan had, but this horrendous cough, sinus pressure and stuffy nose is more than enough! To make matters worse, there isn’t anything I can take since I’m breastfeeding, ugh! Also, being sick when it is 100+ degrees out is no fun! Needless to say, it has been a very lazy day over here. I just hope Mirella doesn’t get it!
Okay, enough venting about being sick. Aside from coming down with Keenan’s cold on Saturday night, my husband and I (and Mirella) still managed to have a marvelous weekend at the coast. Even though it was short and sweet, it was very relaxing and the weather was wonderful, about 30 degrees cooler than it is here!
Since it was such a short little getaway, I purposely didn’t bring my camera to document it, and I told myself we would just live in the moment and cherish every minute of it, which is exactly what we did! We enjoyed a lot of reading (when Mirella was napping), walking down to the little cafe for some coffee while gazing out at the ocean and ending the trip with some wine tasting (my husband did more of the tasting since I wasn’t feeling too well) at a couple of our favorite wineries on the drive home.
I did manage to take a few pictures on my phone that I thought I would share…
A mini recreation of part of our wedding cake (white chocolate cheesecake) that the bakery who made our cake made for us! It is by far the best cheesecake I’ve ever eaten! Our actual cake had layers of pumpkin, plain and white chocolate cheesecake.

Thanks, Katie, for hosting another Marevlous In My Monday!

Mirella is so cute! Just adorable. It sound alike you battled back and had a fun break – sorry you were ill! 🙁
Thank you!
Oh no so sorry to hear you got sick! Glad you still got away and enjoyed a fun weekend. Hope you get lots of rest and feel better soon!
Thank you! Finally, we are feeling better!
I wish we had cheesecake for our wedding cake! Holy yum! We had one layer of chocolate mud cake (which was increeeedible) and a blueberry vanilla cake layer (which was also good) but I so would have gone for cheesecake had we had the option haha.
Mirella just keeps on getting cuter!
I was sick this weekend too and it was a long weekend so we spent the entire time in bed watching supernatural haha. But I’m always getting sick on holidays or special occasions – I narrowly avoided being sick on our wedding day as the week earlier up until two days before the wedding I had the worst flu and absolutely no voice!
Happy Anniversary!! Sorry you had to have some sinus issues (the absolute worst IMO!) for the weekend:( Last year when we went to NYC, I spent one day barfing and totally nauseous and Kenny spent the next day doing the same!
Yes, it wasn’t fun, but I’m glad I’m finally feeling better! Ooh, not fun to be sick on your trip to NYC!
