You might have seen from my instagram feed that I attended my first Juice Plus conference last Friday. I have to admit I was a little skeptical, nervous and anxious at first not knowing what to expect. My friend had encouraged me to attend to learn more about it, gain insight, inspiration and meet others who share the same passion of health and fitness as I do.

I have to say, I’m so glad that she invited me! It was much more than I expected, hearing so many inspirational stories and gaining helpful knowledge about the product.

I started taking Juice Plus when I was less than 12 weeks pregnant with Mirella after my friend reached out to me.  I have always eaten healthy and worked out regularly, in fact I did CrossFit up until the day I gave birth to her, so I was a little skeptical at first, being that I really didn’t need to add any nutritional “supplements” into my diet. But, I learned that Juice Plus is NOT a supplement, it’s a whole-foods-based nutrition product that contains 30 fruits and veggies in capsule form (or in shakes) that are readily absorbed in your body to help bridge the gap of what fruits and veggies you are actually eating and what you should be eating.

After doing my own research, reviewing a few legitimate studies on it and asking my midwife and primary care physician (who both thought it was a great product), I decided to take it. I stopped taking my prenatal vitamin and only took it with fish oil. Within 3 weeks, I noticed immediate results in my immunity, as I didn’t catch the colds or illnesses that Keenan was bringing home from preschool (in fact, I never once got sick while I was pregnant!), and I noticed a tremendous improvement in my energy levels (especially after moving and being in my first trimester), not to mention being more regular (sorry, TMI!). To put it lightly, I was beyond SOLD and immediately ordered some for my entire family (Keenan takes the gummies) and encouraged my parents to try it, too. When we feel like we are coming down with a cold, we double up on the product and the colds usually go away within 3 days. In fact, Keenan hasn’t missed a day of preschool this year (aside from being on vacation)!

As much as I could go on about Juice Plus and how much it has benefited my family, I won’t, as it is only one piece, one simple change that I made towards living a healthier lifestyle. We all have room for improvement, and it certainly added a healthy boost to our lifestyle and I’m so glad that I learned about it almost two years ago.

So, what is your one simple change? Is it eating more fruits and veggies? Drinking more water? Reducing your sugar or alcohol intake? Exercising daily? Adding some more nutrition like Juice Plus? Whatever it is, think of it in simple terms. Like I always say to my clients, you have to start somewhere, so make one small change (baby steps) that lead to your ultimate goal.

Speaking of making one small change, I’m super excited to kick off my 30-Day Shape-Up For Summer Challenge next week, starting May 1st! Anyone can enter and all those who complete the challenge will be entered into a drawing to win fun prizes, so stay tuned for more info!!
