I hope everyone had a nice weekend and Father’s Day celebrating the great dad’s in their life!
A couple of months ago I posted about the Juice Plus conference I attended and making One Simple Change. Ever since the conference I have felt a renewed sense of energy and passion for overall health and wellness, and sharing how Juice Plus has helped me and my family. I’ve always been passionate about promoting healthy living (and leading a healthy and fit lifestyle myself), but something changed in me, sparking a new flame.
This new energy has motivated me to take up running (or run more) and incorporate it into my workout regimen, in addition to CrossFit. I would always include running in my wods, but nothing more than a mile at a time. I was never interested in long distance running until a client asked me to run with her. After those first 5 miles, I was hooked (not to mention winded!), but I was proud of myself for making it through and running an 8 minute mile. It was energizing and challenging in a totally different way than doing CrossFit. It was a new challenge that I was craving.
Since those first 5 miles, I’ve been running at least 8-10 a week, in addition to doing CrossFit 5 days. It’s funny, I have more energy on the days I run 4.5-5 miles and do a wod right after than on the days I just workout.
Running seemed so daunting before, but now it seems so easy and freeing. I look forward to the mornings I run, especially since I bring my two favorite buddies with me…
Of course there are days where I’m not as motivated, but once I’m up and outside, I look forward to watching the sunrise while I run and the rest of the world is still asleep.
I’ve been asked if I will ever run a half marathon or even a marathon someday, but I don’t know. It’s definitely mind over matter and I know I could do it, but I’m not sure I want to endure the countless hours of training. CrossFit is still my number one way to train and stay fit, so I don’t want to put that aside in order to gain more mileage.
Running was my one simple change. What is your one simple change?
I miss running lately and have been doing a little more at the gym but never have time to go solo at home and it’s just too much to go with Adyen. Excuse? Yes, but I don’t mind treadmill running 🙂 I think after our next pregnancy (whenever that happens) I’ll be able to get back into it with Ayden in school and a baby to run with 🙂
