Already another month has passed since my last post baby body update and I can’t believe it has been almost 9 months since I gave birth to Mirella (it’s officially 9 months on the 10th). It still seems like yesterday when I went into labor a couple days after taking this picture at 38 weeks! I felt so big!
Anyhow, I’m exited to update you on my progress toward getting back into my pre-pregnancy shape. Even though I try not to focus on the scale, I’ve lost another two pounds and have only two more to go until I’m back at my pre-pregnancy weight! My clothes fit great and even some of my jeans that I wore before getting pregnant are a little loose! As for my diastasis recti, I wore the ab splint for 6 weeks (not as consistent as I probably should have the last two weeks), but I made sure to wear it every night while I slept. The splint was definitely not the most comfortable thing to wear so I was glad to not wear it anymore! I think I have permanent marks on my sides from the fabric irritating my skin. But, am I happy with my tummy? Yes! It has definitely come a long way, and it is almost back to where it was prior to getting pregnant. I still have a slight pooch in my lower abs (and I’m okay with that!), but it’s a lot smaller than it used to be, and I no longer feel like I look 4 months pregnant, ha! Wearing the splint and doing the exercises was totally worth it.
I still do the Tupler techinque ab exercises daily and I’ve stopped all traditional ab work (sit ups, v-ups, hollow rocks and see the lights). I’m doing CrossFit out of my garage gym 5 days a week and I’ve added a couple of “double days” to my training where I do two wods (workout of the day) twice a week. Since I’ve started my personal training business, it’s fun to do a wod with some of my clients here and there to mix things up and challenge myself (as well as my clients!). I also take Keenan to preschool in the BOB stroller twice a week, jogging with him and Mirella (about 2 miles), which allows me to fit in some additional exercise and work on my running time. It’s nice because Keenan and Mirella both love to ride in the stroller, it saves money on gas (since I don’t use my car those days) and I’m able to burn some extra calories! Overall, I feel great and my strength and endurance is pretty much back where it was prior to being pregnant.
So, here are my stats…
Current weight: 120 (lost another 2 pounds and only 2 more to go until I’m back to my pre-pregnancy weight!)
8 Months Postpartum weight: 122
Final pregnancy weight: 156
Pre-pregnancy weight: 118
Have a great weekend! I’m off to enjoy a spa day with my best friend for my birthday and her anniversary!! It’s the first time leaving Mirella for a full day, so I’m a little nervous, but it will be SO nice to have a day to myself!
Questions:
If you have been pregnant before, how long did it take you to lose your baby weight?
Any fun plans for the weekend?
Great job Melissa! You look awesome!
Thank you!
You look awesome!!!
I never lost all of my weight in between my 2 boys. After having my 2nd I did get back into the shape I was before kids and now at 45 I’m happy with my size (most days:)!
Thank you, Kim!
Looking good, Momma! I’m stll in disbelief that it was already 9 months ago since you gave birth to your little girl! Time really does fly by. Have fun w/ your girlfriend this week.
Yes, it goes by way too fast! Enjoy every minute of your pregnancy and once your girls are born!!
