I hope everyone had a great New Years!
I still can’t believe it’s 2014 already and baby #2 will be here in 7 weeks!! This past year and the last few weeks have flown by, and now I’m feeling the pressure of getting everything ready before our new addition arrives! So much to do, but as my husband says, one step at a time and it will all get done in the end (at least I hope!).
Anyhow, things are going pretty well, especially now that things are less busy with the holidays over. I’m still battling sciatica, which moved to my left side with occasionally back on my right side. I’ve been seeing a chiropractor and getting regular massages just on my lower back and things are feeling A LOT better, thank goodness! At my last prenatal appointment, our midwife said the baby was breech and she was concerned, but not overly so, since it’s normal for babies to turn head down between 34-36 weeks. But, being the type A personality and worrywart that I am, I immediately started researching things that I could do to naturally turn the baby, such as daily inversion exercises, putting an ice pack on the top of your belly (to make the baby move away from the cold) and changing up my sleeping positions. I’m trying not to get too stressed out about it, as our midwife wants to see where the baby is at our next appointment (next week) before ordering an ultrasound and talking about various options. So, as I do my daily inversion exercises, I’m praying that the baby turns, so we don’t have to think about other options!
Cravings: Not as intense as they have been. I still prefer salty, savory foods over sweet ones. I’m all about veggies, but not so much about fruit. Even though I LOVED fruit prior to being pregnant, I’ve been having to force myself to eat it with this pregnancy.
Eating: More hungry now!
Emotions: Good for the most part, though worried about the baby turning.
Skin: Continuing to stay mostly clear, thank goodness!
Weight gain: I’ve gained a total of 29 pounds so far, which makes me wonder how much more weight I will gain in 7 weeks, eek! I’m trying not to think about it, but my midwife still estimates I’ll gain 35 pounds!
Workouts: Despite battling sciatica, I’m still doing CrossFit four days a week, modifying things as I go. I’m no longer doing overhead squats, deadlifts, kettlebell swings and running. I feel strong and I plan to continue working out until our little one arrives!
Sleep: Still good, though I’m waking up a couple of times due to my sciatica, as laying on one side for too long is not comfortable.
Questions:
For all of you mommies, did you ever have a breech baby? If so, were you able to turn it, or did it turn on its own?
Have you ever felt too stressed or tired to do anything, despite having a million things on your to-do list?
These next 7 weeks are going to fly by – so exciting that very soon you will meet the newest member of your family!
I don’t think either of my boys were ever breach but I’ve heard that it is common for babies to move around plenty these last few weeks.
I hope there is still plenty of time for our baby to move! I’m keeping my fingers crossed!
There’s still plenty of time for that little baby to flip 🙂 I had the same issue. Handstands in the water, and laying down while lifting my hips up seemed to help. Good luck! These next few weeks will FLY!
Thanks, Maria; those are good tips! I’ll have to try the laying down one, as it’s too cold to do handstands in the water! 🙂
Ugh, I had sciatica towards the end of my pregnancy too. It was horrible! The chiropracter worked miracles one me! That and a foam roller 🙂 Hopefully baby turns soon!
Yes, the chiropractor has helped so much!
Only seven more weeks? Oh my word, Melissa! I can only imagine how fast these weeks are going to go for you. I’m looking forward to seeing your cute bundle of joy!
p.s. you’re glowing <3
Thanks, Jessie! I know it’s going to go by super fast, so I’m trying to take a deep breath and just take each day at a time and truly enjoy this last bit of one-on-one time with just Keenan.
ohhh – so exciting – it’s going to be here before you know it!
I know, I’m excited but feeling the pressure! 🙂
