As a mom, I’m all about making quick and healthy meals that get dinner on the table in less than 30 minutes during the week. As I’m sure you experience, weeknights are always hectic, so I try to do as much prep ahead of time as possible to make dinner time easier. But, after cooking everyday, sometimes you just need a break. We used to go out to eat once a week on the weekends, but after having kids, we rarely get out to eat once a month, ha!
When Sous Kitchen asked me to sample a couple of their prepared family meals, I was excited! I have heard of places where you can go and prepare your meals (assemble them uncooked) and take them home to freeze or make that week, but I haven’t heard of healthy, ready-to-cook meals delivered to your door! Sous Kitchen’s mission is to provide a lifestyle of delicious, chef-prepared fresh and ready-to-cook, nutritious homemade meals that are simple to make (as they do all the prep for you!) and delicious to eat. If you have specific dietary needs, they can cater your meals to them. Also, their menu changes each month and you can select from a variety of meals (vegetarian, meat, fish, sides and desserts). They make it even easier for you by delivering the meals directly to your door to California, Nevada, Utah, Oregon, Washington, Arizona and Colorado.
The meals that we chose to sample were the jerk chicken with jalapeno cornbread and the honey chipotle chicken with lime quinoa.
Both meals came frozen and individually packaged with clear instructions on how to thaw and cook them. It was very simple to follow. The jerk chicken and cornbread was okay. The flavors were good, but the meal was missing something. My husband and I were both unsatisfied after eating it. The chicken and quinoa was better, very flavorful, but Keenan wasn’t a fan of their quinoa (even though he loves the quinoa that I make). All of their meals don’t come with any vegetables, unless you order them on the side (if they have vegetables available for a side that month), so I made a green salad to compliment them. Since I cook everyday and make a variety of meals for my family, all with a lot of veggies, Sous Kitchen meals were just okay. They didn’t satisfy us as my home-cooked meals do. However, if I didn’t cook, I could see that their meals would be very good, especially providing a nice healthier alternative to getting take out or prepared meals at your local grocery store. Sous Kitchen meals are healthy and made from fresh ingredients that you won’t find at most restaurants or eateries. They provide a way to still feed your family healthy, homemade meals without doing a thing, which for busy working moms, is VERY helpful! Also, their prices are reasonable; for a family of four, it’s less than $25 a meal, and for up to eight people, it’s less than $50 a meal, not bad!
All, in all, I think Sous Kitchen provides a nice healthier alternative to getting take out, when you still want to feed your family a healthy, home-cooked meal. But, if you are used to cooking homemade meals on a regular basis, or used to eating them (maybe your spouse does the cooking!), you might be a little disappointed. Sous Kitchen is perfect for the purpose that they cater to, busy families who don’t have time to cook or don’t want to cook, but want to feed their families healthy, homemade meals.
Sous Kitchen is so generous that they have offered to provide one lucky reader a $100 gift certificate to try a few of their meals!! Also, all readers can get $10 off their first order using the code EAT$10.

I’d try the Maple chicken thighs with roasted veggies or the Shrimp Puttanesca.
The pomegranate roasted pork chops sound good.
I’d love to try the Beef Bulgogi! Sounds yummy.
