Happy Friday!

It’s been SO hard to keep a secret the past few weeks, but we wanted to wait until our first appointment (which was yesterday) to spill the beans officially! Keenan’s going to be a big brother! We are so excited, though it hasn’t really set in since we have been so occupied with the move and settling into our new house. When we saw the little peanut and its’ heartbeat on the screen yesterday, it definitely made it more real!

It’s still early, as I’m only 8 weeks, but my husband and I decided we wanted to tell everyone now, rather than waiting until the typical 12 weeks. We are praying that our little peanut stays healthy and continues to grow and develop properly.

Two weeks before our move, I had a hunch that I might be pregnant, because I was struggling with my WODs. I was so tired. I had no energy to push myself like I usually did. In addition, I had to go to the bathroom what seemed like every 5 minutes and I had strong cravings for different foods like burgers, sweet potato fries, steak and pizza. So, on Father’s Day,  I took a test and boom, there it was! My husband couldn’t have received a better gift!

So, how I am feeling you might ask? How is it different from when I was pregnant with Keenan? Well, for one, I’m constantly tired, rather EXHAUSTED all the time, which is another reason why my workouts were lacking the past couple of weeks. I just didn’t have the energy to do anything, even though I knew exercise would make me feel better and more energized. Moving and unpacking sure didn’t help me feel less tired! The past couple of weeks when I put Keenan down for a nap, I took one, too! If I hadn’t, I don’t think I would have been able to make it through the afternoon. When I was pregnant with Keenan, I wasn’t that tired, I just remember feeling nauseous if I didn’t eat every 3 hours or so, or didn’t eat enough protein.

I haven’t felt too nauseous, but as I was with Keenan, if I don’t eat every 3 hours, I start to feel it. As soon as I eat something with protein, like nuts or cheese, the nausea goes away, thank goodness! Also, I’m hungry ALL the time! So far I haven’t had any food aversions, except for not being too interested in ice cream or frozen yogurt, which I normally love! When we made homemade peanut butter ice cream on the 4th, I took a few bites and I really couldn’t finish the rest of it (even though it tasted really good!). I’ve definitely been wanting savory and salty foods lately and I still have pretty strong cravings. Lately, I’ve craved Raisin Bran for breakfast, loaded deli sandwiches for lunch, popcorn, burritos, chips and burgers. With Keenan, I really didn’t have too many cravings, other than peaches, nectarines and anything sweet, so it has been interesting to see the difference with baby number two!

Well, that’s it for now, but I wanted to at least share our exciting news with you all! There will definitely be more as our little peanut grows! Lots of changes ahead like modifying my WODs, which I’ve already started doing this week. It’s amazing how fast my heart rate gets after only doing a few double unders or kettlebell swings! I didn’t do CrossFit when I was pregnant with Keenan, so this is will be a new experience for me.

I could go on and on, but we are heading to the beach with our family this morning and I still have some packing to do, so I better get going. With our move and expecting baby number two, I’m going to try and stay unplugged for most of next week, but I’ll be sure to post pictures and updates on instagram and twitter!
