The top of the haystack at the pumpkin patch!

Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend. We had a fun weekend at my parents’ house, visiting the pumpkin patch and playing outside. Keenan loves going to my parent’s house, because there is so much to do! He is busy from the moment he wakes up (always very early!) to the moment he goes to bed. Since he is so excited to play with everything and be outside, he never wakes up at his normal time. On Saturday, he woke up at 5:30 a.m. and did not want to go back to sleep with me, in my bed. On Sunday, he woke up at 6:20 (a little better). We eat breakfast early and then it’s play time! He loves playing outside, taking wagon rides with Nonna, helping to water her flowers, riding his trike, playing with the dogs (Lady and Princess) and playing in the “park” (my parent’s play set). He just loves being at my parents’ house and spending time with them; it is cute!

Saturday: We headed to a local pumpkin patch: Phillips Farm, in Lodi, a part of Michael David Winery. It was perfect for Keenan’s age, because they had animals to pet and feed, as well as a small haunted house (which Keenan loved and kept asking to go in again!), a haystack for climbing and of course, the pumpkin patch to pick pumpkins. The grounds are perfect for having a picnic, so I think we will do that next year. We had lunch in their cafe, which was okay, not the greatest of service. Though, their bakery is wonderful! We tasted some of their apple, peach and zucchini breads and each one was delicious. We bought the peach and zucchini breads to have for breakfast on Sunday. Overall, we had a fun time and we will definitely go back. On our way home, we also stopped at my favorite fruit stand, The Fruit Bowl, to stock-up on pumpkin butter and other goodies!

Sunday: We enjoyed a nice breakfast of eggs, bacon, fruit and zucchini and peach bread from Phillips Farm. After breakfast, Keenan helped Nonna feed the dogs and then we headed to church. Since it was such a nice day, we went for a walk in the orchard after church, taking Lady with us. Since it was walnut harvest, Keenan was very intrigued with the sweeper and harvester! He also loved picking up walnuts and trying to “crack” them open!

Today, Keenan had music class, so we ate a quick breakfast of pumpkin pie yogurt and then headed out the door. Since we were all out of fresh produce, we stopped at the grocery store on our way home, to stock-up for the week. I was excited that our grocery store still had peaches from CA! I bought more than a few, to get my fix before they go out of season.

Since we haven’t had any Mexican inspired dishes lately, I bought some whole wheat tortillas for a couple of meals this week (look for some recipes later this week!). I’ve been craving Mexican food, so for lunch, we made turkey and cheese quesadillas, which Keenan loved! It was nice to “mix things up a bit” for lunch.

Speaking up mixing things up a bit, I was nominated by The Retiring Sort for the Super Sweet Blogging Award! Here is how the award works:

1. Thank the super sweet blogger who made the nomination.

2. Nominate a baker’s dozen of other bloggers

3. Answer 5 questions:

Cookie or cake? Cookie

Chocolate or Vanilla? Chocolate

What is your favorite sweet treat? This is hard…either a soft peanut butter chocolate cookie or pumpkin pie with whipped cream

Well, it’s time to get ready for CrossFit. On the menu for tonight is either chicken burgers with oven-baked zucchini fries or zucchini sauteed with sun dried tomatoes, onion and Italian sausage over whole wheat pasta with a sprinkle of feta cheese. Have a great rest of your afternoon!

Question: What did you do this past weekend? How are you enjoying Fall?
