First off, look where “Peanut” was this morning! Don’t you just love the wine selection? You can’t go wrong with a little Charles Shaw (I WISH I could have some!).  The first thing Keenan said when he saw her was “Silly Peanut, she shouldn’t drink wine!”

With tomorrow being the last Friday before Christmas, the kids are probably out of school and you will soon be on vacation. I’m sure thoughts of rest and relaxation are circulating through your mind, among other last minute holiday things to do. Even though you will be on vacation, it doesn’t mean you have to ditch your workouts (unless you are in need of some recovery time!). Vacation can be a great time to fit in some exercise, as you will most likely have more time to devote to it, since you won’t have your normal routine.

Here are a few tips for fitting in some exercise while you are away that doesn’t require any equipment other than some workout clothes and shoes!

1. Cardio: Lace up your running shoes, bundle up and go for a jog or a brisk walk around the neighborhood. Ask a family member to come a long. Make sure to dress in layers!

2. Fun outdoor activities: Plan a family snow day to go sledding, tubbing, snow-shoeing, snowboarding or skiing (if you are in an area with snow). Go ice skating! Grab some family members take a walk around the neighborhood to look at Christmas lights (which we are doing tomorrow!).

3. Use your own body weight: Try some of my CrossFit  Home or Travel Workouts for quick, but intense workouts using nothing but your own body weight! Or, anywhere you have some space, do push-ups, walking lunges, squats, planks and crunches, even while you are watching TV. Aim to do each exercise for at least ten reps and three rounds, going as fast as you can while still keeping good form.

Before I go, I’ll leave you with a fun holiday workout that you can take with you on your travels or do in the comfort of your own home! Let me know if you try it!
