It’s been a while since I did a “day in the life” post, so I thought it would be fun to do one today, especially since life has changed with two kids in tow and my husband’s new job. We are going on week two of our new schedule, due to my husband’s career change, and so far so good. I have never been a morning person, but I must admit that I love waking up early, getting my workout done and completing other household chores before the kiddos wake up. I get so much accomplished in PURE SILENCE before the day really starts! Funny how things change as you get older and become a parent, ha!
Anyhow, since it’s Wednesday, I’m also joining Jenn for What I Ate Wednesday. If you have a chance, head on over to her blog to check out all of her delicious eats!
Here is how yesterday went…
Woke up at 3:00 a.m. to nurse Mirella. Put her back to bed and fell back asleep until my husband’s alarm went off at 5:15 a.m.
5:15-5:30 a.m. Woke up, got dressed in my gym clothes, filled up my water cup and headed out to the gym.
5:30-6: 20 a.m. Worked out (starting out with a 10 minute warm-up, skill and wod).
6:15 a.m. Keenan woke up and walked out to the gym to see me until I finished.
6:20-6:30 a.m. Stretched and chugged my water cup (24 ounces and filled up another cup which I drank immediately).
6:30 a.m. Fed Lulu, made coffee with our French press (since my husband didn’t have time to make cappuccinos for us) and started breakfast.
6: 45-7:00 a.m. Keenan and I ate our new favorite breakfast: 1/3 cup oatmeal mixed with chia and flaxseed, and topped with a runny egg and 2 nitrite free sausages from Costco, YUM! It doesn’t look that appetizing, but it’s SO satisfying!
7:00 -7:20 a.m. Mirella woke up for the day. Changed and nursed her.
7:20-7:40 a.m. Cleaned kitchen and did the dishes from breakfast.
7:40-7:50 a.m. Pumped breast milk while playing with Mirella (and Keenan) under her play gym.
7:50-8:00 a.m. Put milk away in freezer and watered outside pots with Keenan.
8:00-8:15 a..m. Helped Keenan get dressed for the day.
8:15-8:45 a.m. Played piano with Keenan and Mirella.
8:45-9:00 a.m. Changed Mirella and put her down for a nap.
9:00-9:30 a.m. Got myself ready.
9:30-9:40 a.m. Packed a lunch for Keenan (PB and J sandwich with some baby carrots) to eat in the car since we would be out past lunch time.
9:40-9:45 a.m. Loaded the car.
9:45 a.m. 10:00 a.m. Got Mirella up and nursed her.
10:00-10:05 a.m. Changed and dressed Mirella.
10:05 a.m. Got in the car to head to our play date.
10:10 -11:00 a.m. Play date at our friend’s house.
11:00 -11:30 Drove to our dentist appointment for Keenan and me.
11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Dentist appointments.
12:30-12:45 p.m. Nursed Mirella while Keenan ate his lunch in the car.
12:45-1:15 p.m. Drove home.
1:15-1:30 p.m. Put Keenan and Mirella down for their naps.
1:30-1:45 p.m. Made and ate my lunch: turkey rolls filled with a dab of Tzatziki sauce, avocado and spinach with carrots and cherry tomatoes on the side. I also ate a handful of baked snap peas that I recently bought at Costco (which are SO good and addicting!).
1:45-3:30 p.m. Prepped dinner, checked email, blogged and returned some phone calls.
3:30 p.m. Keenan and Mirella woke up.
3:30-3:45 p.m. Changed and Nursed Mirella.
3:45-3:50 p.m. Gave Keenan a snack (frozen Greek yogurt pop) and made a Juice Plus+ Chocolate Complete shake mixed with 3/4 cup iced coffee concentrate that tastes like an iced mocha! This has become my favorite afternoon snack these days, especially since the weather is warmer!
3:50-5:30 p.m. Put Mirella in the Moby wrap and played outside with Keenan.
5:30-5:45 p.m. Nursed and changed Mirella.
5:45- 6:15 p.m. Prepped the rest of our dinner.
6:15-6:45 p.m. Ate dinner: Slow-Cooker Sweet and Spicy Pork Chops with roasted broccoli, cherry tomatoes, red onions and feta cheese.
6:45-7:30 p.m. Bath and Bedtime for Keenan.
7:3-7:45 p.m. Nursed Mirella.
7:45-8:00 p.m. Bathed and changed Mirella.
8:00-8:30 p.m. Nursed Mirella one last time before putting her to bed.
8:30-9:00 p.m. Relaxed on the couch with my husband while watching House of Cards (which is SO good!) and drank a Sam Adams beer.
9:00-9:30 p.m. Showered and headed to bed.
There you have it! Sorry if I bored you, but that is just a typical day around here and I wouldn’t change it for the world!
Also, don’t forget to enter the Bolder Band giveaway for a chance to win a free headband that doesn’t move during your workout!
Questions:
What time do you get up in the morning?
Are you a morning person?
What is one thing that you ate today?
WOW. You have quite a packed day with two little ones! As a mom of one, I find it really encouraging that you make time for exercise, despite your super busy schedule. My husband and I want to have more kids Lord-willing, but it is intimidating!
My goal is to wake up at 6:00 am to head out for a morning run and spend time reading the Bible/in prayer. Breakfast is at 7:00 am and my son wakes up at 7:30 or 8-ish. Some of the mornings are a bit earlier due to farming, but 6 am is my favorite time to wake up 🙂
I am a morning person BUT I couldn’t pull off too many 5:00 am mornings in a row! Every other day maybe.
Something I ate today… fresh out-of-the-oven homemade bread! That Juice+ Shake looks really good right now. I’m usually always a warm coffee drinker, but that shake would be perfect for this summer!
Fresh out-of-the-oven homemade bread sounds so good!
Life is certainly busy with two kids in tow, but if I don’t get my workout in, I’m not the happiest camper, nor do I feel my best. It’s something that I have to do at least 4, if not 5 days a week. Keenan has been waking up early because he hears us get up, but he knows that “Mommy needs her time to workout,” so he has been really good with eating his cheerios while watching me workout! 🙂
Phew! What a day! Funny you posted this today as I have one similar ready to go. Not as crazy since I only have one child but definitely busy! Especially lately with birthday prep and house stuff. Someday things will slow down… Your breakfast sounds so interestingly good! Might have to give it a try someday!
It doesn’t seem like a lot to me, but after writing it all out, I was exhausted! I can only imagine what it would be like with 3 or 4 kids! Yes, someday things will slow down…at least I hope!
I love day in the life posts! It was good to get a glimpse of life with two… sounds like things are flowing smoothly for you these days. And you even had time to prep some yummy food!
Thanks! I like reading other bloggers day-in-the-life posts, too, so I thought it would be fun to do one. Things are going well, just super busy! 🙂
It sounds like dejavu only it’s you this time. My work our was in front of the TV with Joni Greggins!
I have similarly aged children so I found this interesting. Just wondering, does mirella only nap twice a day? Thanks.
Mirella usually takes an hour nap in the morning between 9 and 10 a.m., another 45 min to one hour nap between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and a long one (2-3 hours) between 1:30-4:30. I try to keep her up after that until bedtime.
