You might have wondered where I have been the past three weeks, unless you follow me on instagram or twitter. The truth is, life has been very busy (but, in a good way!). Early Sunday morning, we got home (after an EXTREMELY long day of flying that included missing our transfer from Chicago to SFO, and waiting yet again in the airport for the next flight) from our week long family vacation on the Grand Cayman. Prior to that, we made a little pit stop for a few days in Washington, D.C. to visit the Smithsonian Institute Natural History and Air and Space Museums that was a lot of fun! Before leaving for vacation, I was so busy trying to get everything done around our house, finish our taxes, prepare for my son’s preschool’s annual pancake breakfast fundraiser that I’m in charge of, and make sure my clients had home workouts to do while I was gone. Needless to say, blogging was put on the back burner.
I have to admit it was a nice break from the blogging world, but I’m happy to be back with a little recap about our trip…
Washington, D.C. was great. The last time I was there was when I was 14 years old and I didn’t really appreciate it. We loved the museums, especially the National Museum of Air and Space. Keenan was so exited to see all of the airplanes and the space station!
The dinosaurs at the Natural History Museum were a lot of fun, too, especially when Keenan saw his favorite, the Triceratops!
Dupoint Circle was a fun spot for dinner, especially Agora, a delicious little Turkish restaurant! We loved the food so much that I forgot to take a picture!
After our third day in D.C., we flew to Grand Cayman where we met my parents, brother, sister-in-law and nieces. It was such a nice shift in weather, going from 40 degrees and rainy to sunny and 80 degrees with 75% humidity!
We had a blast, swimming in the gorgeous infinity pool at the house we rented, playing on the beach, relaxing in the afternoons with a nice rum cocktail (courtesy of my husband!) while reading, and doing a few day excursions…snorkeling and swimming with the dolphins, sting rays and star fish! Oh, and I can’t forget our delicious lunch by the sea where Keenan ordered octopus for the first time, and LOVED it! He was so excited to eat it!
The highlight of the trip for me was snorkeling and swimming with the sting rays. Aquarius Sea Tours was awesome! Antonio, Mario and Salvador were wonderful and so accommodating to our family. They made the tour! I would definitely do it all over again, and I highly recommend them if you ever go to Grand Cayman!
To be honest, I did not want to come home and face reality. Although it’s nice to be in my own bed, I miss the island vibe, the beautiful weather that kept my hair wavy and free, and not having a care in the world. Now, all I can think of is planning our next vacation!
